Supporting People is a Government scheme that started in April 2003. It aims to support people in their own homes so that they can lead more independent lives.
The Supporting People Programme is part of Adult Social Care Commissioning but carries out its responsibilities on behalf of the Supporting People Commissioning Body, which represents all the statutory partners in Surrey: the 11 boroughs and districts; Health and Probation as well as the County Council.
Meet The TeamThere is no longer a centralised Supporting People Team in Surrey, however, there is a Supporting People Programme Manager responsible for holding an overview of housing related support services and maintaining the links with those strategic working groups where housing related support services are key. There are also 3 Commissioning Managers who have on-going responsibility for commissioning, monitoring and review of Supporting People funded housing related support services on a client group basis.

Statutory Partner Lead OfficersEach borough and district has a lead officer for Supporting People. Likewise, Health and Probation have nominated individuals to represent their agencies. These officers attend the Joint Management Board, advise the Supporting People Programme and, as a group, make recommendations to the Commissioning Body. They are:
